THEO Selected for Five Films for Freedom

Theo, co-directed by Jo Galvv and Monica Palazzo, has been selected for Five Films for Freedom, an annual online LGBTQIA+ film programme, presented in partnership with the British Council and the BFI Flare: London LGBTQIA+ Film Festival.

Inspired by Jo Galvv’s childhood as a tomboy growing up in Brazil in the 1980s, the short film unfolds through a child’s perspective, exploring identity, freedom, and the subtle tensions between self expression and social expectation.

As part of Five Films for Freedom, the film is available to audiences worldwide, contributing to a global moment of LGBTQIA+ storytelling and visibility.

The film will be available to watch online worldwide from 18 to 29 March for a limited period of 11 days. During this window, audiences across different countries and time zones will be able to access Theo freely, making it part of a shared, time bound global viewing experience.
