Between the Ball and the World at FALA São Chico 2026
Between the Ball and the World, a short documentary by Jo Galvv, has been selected for the 5th edition of FALA São Chico – Festival Audiovisual Latino-Americano de São Francisco do Sul 2026. Dedicated to contemporary Latin American documentary cinema, the festival takes place on the island of São Francisco do Sul, in the north of Santa Catarina, one of the oldest territories in Brazil.
The official selection includes 16 short documentaries from Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Uruguay, and France, highlighting a wide range of perspectives and voices from across Latin America. Screenings will be held at Teatro XV de Novembro, located in the city’s historic center.
The festival’s 2026 curatorship also emphasizes diversity and emerging filmmakers, bringing together works directed by women, LGBTQIAPN+ filmmakers, Black and Indigenous directors, and artists with disabilities, reinforcing the event’s commitment to independent and socially engaged cinema.
Produced by Associação Cultural Panvision through Brazil’s Lei Rouanet, FALA São Chico has established itself as an important platform for documentary cinema and cultural exchange in Latin America.
