Theo, Short Film by Jo Galvv and Monica Palazzo, Selected for the 16th Mostra Curta Audiovisual

The short film Theo, co-directed by Jo Galvv and Monica Palazzo, has been selected for the National Competition of the 16th Mostra Curta Audiovisual, taking place in Campinas, São Paulo.

Bringing together films from more than 15 Brazilian states, the 16th edition of the festival celebrates the diversity of voices and perspectives that shape contemporary Brazilian cinema. This year’s edition is guided by the theme “Reverberar: eco do que foi transformado” (“Reverberate: the echo of what has been transformed”), reflecting on the ways cinema continues to resonate beyond the moment of exhibition.

Set in 1980s Brazil, Theo follows a child who challenges gender expectations while navigating school life and the pressures of a society that demands conformity. Through Theo’s perspective, the film portrays a journey of self-discovery and the search for space to exist authentically.

Organized in Campinas/SP, the Mostra Curta Audiovisual creates a space for independent cinema through screenings, conversations, and encounters, expanding the possibilities of audiovisual creation and access to diverse Brazilian narratives.

The selection marks another step in Theo’s festival journey, bringing the film to new audiences and continuing its circulation through Brazilian cinema spaces.
