Theo Selected for the Seoul International PRIDE Film Festival 2026

Theo, the 15-minute Brazilian fiction short film written and directed by Jo Galvv and Monica Palazzo, has been selected for the 2026 edition of the Seoul International PRIDE Film Festival (SIPFF), South Korea’s largest international LGBTQ+ film festival. The film will screen as part of the Five Films for Freedom programme, presented in partnership with the British Council and BFI Flare, marking its Asian premiere.

Set in Brazil in 1986 during the World Cup, Theo follows a seven-year-old child who quietly navigates school life while challenging rigid gender expectations. Through a passion for football and a refusal to conform, Theo begins to carve out their own way of existing in a world that seeks to define who they should be.

Taking place from November 5 to 11, 2026, the Seoul International PRIDE Film Festival showcases queer cinema from Korea and around the world, promoting diversity, inclusion, pride, love, equality and solidarity. The festival plays an important role in expanding the visibility of LGBTQ+ stories and perspectives in Korean cinema and beyond.

The selection continues Theo’s international journey following its world premiere at BFI Flare: London LGBTQIA+ Film Festival and its inclusion in the 2026 Five Films for Freedom programme, bringing the film’s story of childhood, identity and belonging to audiences in South Korea.
